If it fits, fasten it using screws to the plasterboard. After the pattress is well placed, straighten the wires and connect to the appropriate terminals. The cables should be well marked to avoid short-circuit. Then put the faceplate to cover the pattress. Use a tester to verify.

    Firmly hold one lead at a time while securing it to its respective screw hole using the provided screw and the screwdriver. The screwdriver should now be rotated clockwise so as to fasten the wires. Do not secure the screws too tight, to avoid the wire leads breaking or too loose, to avoid the wire leads losing connection with the outlet.

    The next step is securing the socket to the electrical box. Since you have pulled a bit of wire length from the electrical box, push it back so as to make some room for the socket to be properly secured. Secure the socket on the electrical socket using the wall socket screws. Ensure that the socket is tightly secured such that it cannot be moved easily while attached on the electrical box.

    Testing the Replaced Socket

    The next step is testing your newly replaced socket. Switch the power on, depending on where you had switched off (at the mains or at the socket breaker).     Before applying to become a JIB-approved electrician, you must have worked for two years as an electrician in your professional duties.
